Master of Public Health Program

School-specific features

In the Master of Public Health program, we educate professionals who are competent in engaging in public health activities to prevent diseases and promote health. We especially value abilities to tackle various issues related to global aging, epidemiological transition of disease structure, emerging infectious diseases and globalized and diverse society. Our goal is to make our world better and happier through the work of public health professionals we foster.

Careers described below are some examples of possible directions of graduates of this course.
- Proceed to doctoral degree course
- Governmental public health sectors
- Pharmaceutical and health-tech industries as an epidemiologist or biostatistician
- International organizations such as WHO or UNICEF,etc.
- Conduct clinical studies as a medical doctor

For the courses and credits for the Master of Public Health Program, students shall complete a total of at least 30 credits, which consist of 18 credits from the Compulsory Courses and 12 credits from the Compulsory Elective Courses and Common Courses for Master of Medical Science Program, including at least 2 credits each from the following four areas of the Compulsory Elective Courses: Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health Care Policy and Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Social Science and Behavioral Science

  • Compulsory Courses
    Social Life Science: 2 credits
    Seminar on Medical Science: 8 credits
    Experimental Research on Medical Science: 8 credits

    Credits for Seminar on Medical Science and Experimental Research on Medical Science will be given for seminars and experimental research activities by the professor (see Research Group PDF for the list) who supervise your Master Thesis research.
  • Compulsory Elective Courses at least 2 credits each from the following four areas
    Note that courses that are actually provided may vary according to the academic year.

    1. Epidemiology and Biostatistics
    Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Practice of Basic Statistical Analysis, Practice of Statistical Methods in Medical Research, Clinical Biostatistics and Regulatory Science, Advanced Statistical Analysis

    2. Health Care Policy and Management
    Practice of Health Care Administration, Healthcare Service Facilities and Professionals, Administrative Regulations for Health, Health Insurance and Economics, Hospital Administration, Community Health and International Health, Medical Law

    3. Environmental Health Sciences
    Occupational and Environmental Health, Advanced Occupational and Environmental Health Science, Practice of Metallomics Analysis of Biological Tissues, Practice of Analysis of Sensory Neural Functions

    4. Social Science and Behavioral Science
    Behavioral Science and Medical Anthropology, Methods in Qualitative Research and Analysis

  • Common Courses for Master of Medical Science Program
